Battery boosted adventure

E-bikes were all the rage in 2019 and it doesn’t look like that’s about to change any time soon. Arguably the most exciting evolution of this trend is power assisted performance mountain bikes. New for this decade is the Turbo Levo SL range from Specialized, a trail bike that they say “changes everything.” You’ll be happy to hear that the Turbo Levo SL has arrived at the Bicycle Chain, your first stop for the perfect e-trail bike. In this blog we will tell you all about Specialized’s new beast and the other electric trail bikes we have in store.

Specialized Turbo Levo SL

New for 2020 is Specialized’s fresh entry into the world of the e-MTB, the Turbo Levo SL. Fans of the Stumpjumper range will notice that there isn’t much between the two in terms of looks, it’s just that this one has some extra horsepower to give your ride an extra kick. The Turbo Levo SL is here to enhance your ride and help you stay out on the bike and on the trails for as long as possible. A quicker and less exhausted rider means more fun and more miles.

The top of the range S-Works model is a thing of beauty and its matte black carbon frame truly has us drooling. Coming in at 17.3kg, this is a super lightweight bike – for its category – which means it handles like a dream on the tricky stuff, has the power to eat up the trails and you get more time in the air.

Unique to the Turbo Levo SL is the company’s pioneering new motor technology. The 240 watt fully integrated power unit doubles the effort you put in and, with their specific app, can be fine-tuned to each rider’s style. Crucially, when the motor is switched off, the bike is so light that there is no drag and the Turbo Levo SL rides just like the traditional Stumpjumper, this is a major plus for trail riders. Finally, 150 millimetres of front and rear suspension make bumpy tracks a doddle and means you can ride the Turbo Levo SL to its maximum capacity.

Other e-MTBs

As well as the all new range from Specialized, we also stock e-mountain bikes from the likes of Trek, Giant and Liv at the Bicycle Chain. These full suspension models make mincemeat out of trails and are ideal companions for riders who just need that little more turbo in their ride to help them ride further for longer. The biggest plus of a power assisted mountain bike is its ability to take some of the effort out of climbing. This means that you have more energy for the fun stuff, and to tackle hills and tough trails that you might otherwise struggle to conquer.

Go electric, go gravel

Another discipline that has really taken off over the last couple of years is gravel riding. We have already visited this burgeoning sector on our site and, of course, the e-bike market, and these two 21st century bike types have now collided to make a super bike. Once again, it’s Specialized who are at the forefront of this movement thanks to their Turbo Creo SL range. Designed for long trips, fast riding and adventure, these bikes can take you anywhere on and off-road. It’s never been easier to go further on a bike.

So, join the e-MTB revolution and ride harder, faster and further than ever before. Come in to one of our stores to have a look at the bikes yourself, including our new Specialized Turbo Levo demo bike that we’ve just built up.
