The Allied way

We introduced Arkansas-based Allied Cycle Works back in October and in last week’s blog post we spoke about them once again. We’re not shy of shouting their name here – Allied make some of the most jaw-droppingly stunning bikes out there and we’re really excited to be working with them in bringing their superb bikes to Europe. Allied pride themselves on individuality, both in their products and the way they build them, a characteristic that we like to think we offer as well. With the guys at Allied and with us at The Bicycle Chain you can be sure to get the best of the best.

The Allied way

Allied do things a little differently. Rather than out-source to faceless factories, they have designed, manufactured and assembled their unique all-carbon road bikes in their own backyard since they first started in 2016. As Allied Cycle Works founder Tony Karklins puts it, they do it this way because “it’s the right thing to do”. If you cut corners, one day you’ll fall over.

Allied offer high end, super customisable bikes at realistic prices. From the moment you begin your journey with Allied you’ll be part of the process, the end result being that when your bike arrives, you’ll already have a bond with it. Sure, you can buy a mass-produced machine for similar money, but that’s what makes Allied special. They make the bike for you.

Allied use American produced carbon fibre and design individual ply shapes to dial in the performance of the bike. Whether that’s the Alfa racing bike or the multi-surface capable gravel grinder that is the Allroad, the design process starts by looking at how the bike will be used and literally cuts the cloth accordingly.

The longest step in the manufacturing process is what’s called ‘lay up’. Lay up takes the loose carbon fibre from the cutting room and puts it on a journey to being a recognisable bike frame. Rather than set up a production line of robots, Allied employ a team of highly skilled people and incredible patience to create their frames. This video demonstrates the care they take in the process, creating individual front triangles, seatstays and chainstays before joining them together – there is a lot of love and a boatload of pride going into each bike.

Your way

The reason we’re so chuffed to be working with Allied’s team is that with them we can offer you customisation. Too often when buying a bike you feel like you have to adapt to whatever’s provided – well, not with Allied. Offering bespoke colour schemes from a virtually infinite colour palette and your choice of components means you’ll get the bike just the way you want it. With a full range of build options, from frame only to full custom builds of any specification you can dream up, here’s your chance to own a machine you can truly be proud of. Give us a call and we can discuss your dream bike.

Don’t worry about shipping times either. You might be a long way from the rugged trails of Arkansas, but with a six week turnaround, you’ll have your dream Allied bike drawing admiring looks from your riding mates in no time.

Allied doesn’t compromise on performance, durability or beauty and neither should you. Check out more details here and be sure to contact us if you have any queries.
