E-bikes are the newest form of bike available on the market today. The addition of a battery and motor has made cycling more attractive and welcoming to many riders. The new technology has been applied to almost every category of bike, and at the forefront of the e-bike movement has been Trek.

For the road cyclist: Trek Domane+ E-Bike

Road e-bikes have made road cycling much more accessible for many people. Cyclists who are recovering from injury or whose fitness isn’t what it used to be see road e-bikes as a brilliant option, enabling them to keep up on tough climbs that would otherwise have excluded them from the ride. They also make cycling much more inclusive as friends can go out together regardless of fitness levels.

The Trek Domane+ has a 500wh Bosch PowerTube battery and a Bosch Performance Cruise 250 watt motor. This setup achieves top speeds of 25km/h and a range of >100km from a single charge. Trek’s own Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) system keeps the bike looking sleek and attractive, and the build is finished off with a SRAM Force 11-speed drivetrain and disc brakes.

For the mountain biker: Trek Powerfly LT 9

E-bikes have gained a large following in the world of mountain biking too. Some mountain bike trails have extremely technical and gruelling climbs that are near impossible for some riders. E-bikes have made these trails much more accessible, enabling riders of all abilities to keep going for longer and further than before, with energy kept for descending rather than climbing.

The Trek Powerfly LT 9 is an enduro rig through and through. 160mm front suspension and 150mm rear will have you chewing up trails all day long. The 27.5+ tyres are perfect for increased grip in rock gardens and slippery root sections, and powering the Powerfly are a Bosch PowerTube 500wh motor and Bosch Performance CX battery.

For the commuter: Trek TM1+

Commuting by bike can help save money, time and even the planet. But when the weather is hot people can be put off by the prospect of arriving at their destination sweaty and out of breath. An e-bike designed for commuting helps resolve this problem by doing some of the leg work for you. You’ll now look forward to commuting on warm, sunny days rather than worrying if you’ve packed a spare change of clothes.

The Trek TM1+ is a classic city bike. With a slim, low-step silhouette and an upright, comfortable riding position, the TM1+ is made for zipping around the city in comfort and style. The Bosch motor and battery combine to give you speeds of up to 25km/h, perfect for making that meeting on time!

The hybrid: Trek Dual Sport+

Blurring the line between mountain bike and commuter is the hybrid. These bikes offer the best of both worlds for the person who uses their bike to get to work during the week and get off-road on the weekend. If you’re looking for a new commuting bike but like the thought of hitting the trails too, then a hybrid might be the bike for you.

Trek’s hybrid e-bike is the Dual Sport+. Designed with comfort in mind, the Dual Sport+ has a Bontrager cockpit and integrated light system that runs off the bike’s battery. If you err on the side of a commuter, you can easily add racks for extra storage. Or if you’re more of an off-road rider, you can add mudguards.

E-bikes have encouraged more and more people to get out on the road and trails – there’s an e-bike out there for everyone. Check out Trek’s full range of e-bikes and get in touch to find out more!
