Procaliber 9.6 is a race-ready cross-country hardtail built to fly. Its lightweight carbon frame delivers a smooth, efficient ride with IsoBow technology, while a 120mm RockShox Reba RL fork helps you stay fast and in control over rocks and roots. A mechanical SRAM Eagle 70 drivetrain keeps shifts crisp on punchy climbs, and 4-piston SRAM DB 6 brakes give you confident stopping power when it counts.
An OCLV Mountain Carbon hardtail frame with IsoBow seat stays that run past the seat tube, with the complete bike weighing 12.38 kg in size M.
Stamp on the pedals and the bike surges forward with a zingy eagerness that makes you want to push. IsoBow adds a little give over trail chatter, though as a hardtail it is happiest on punchy, flowing courses.
A RockShox Reba RL air fork with 120 mm of travel, a DebonAir spring, a Motion Control damper and a lockout.
That 120 mm is at the generous end for a race hardtail, so you can hold your speed into rooty descents. Flick the lockout on smooth climbs and fire roads and the front stays firm while you push.
A mechanical SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission 1x12 drivetrain with a 32T chainring and a 10-52T cassette.
This bike loves to climb, and the 52T sprocket keeps you spinning up steep pitches while the 10T gives you plenty to push on fast fire roads. The T-Type derailleur mounts directly to the frame and shrugs off knocks.
Four-piston SRAM DB 6 brakes paired with 180 mm and 160 mm SRAM CenterLine rotors.
This is a bike that carries speed, and four pistons give you strong bite from a light one-finger pull, so you can brake later into tight singletrack and save your hands on long descents.
Tubeless-ready 29 in Bontrager Kovee Comp 25 wheels with 2.40 in Bontrager Sainte-Anne Pro XR dual-compound tyres.
On a hardtail your tyres do much of the cushioning, and set up tubeless these broad 2.40 in tyres can run lower pressures to soak up chatter and hold on through loose, rooty corners.
A Bontrager Line Dropper seatpost with 150 mm of travel on sizes M, ML and L, 100 mm on S and 170 mm on XL.
Drop the saddle at the top of a steep descent and you have room to move and let the 120 mm fork do its work, then pop it back up for the next climb without stopping.
The carbon frame has rack and accessory mounts, with guided internal routing keeping the cables tidy.
Bolt on a rack or bags and this quick hardtail turns into a fun way to explore longer routes or carry kit on all-day rides, so it earns its keep between race weekends.

Innovative IsoBow frame technology extends Procaliber's seat stays beyond the seat tube, allowing for increased vertical complicane that smooths trail chatter while reducing frame weight.

With a slacker head tube angle than most XC bikes and longer 120 mm travel, the Procaliber Carbon's calm demeanour encourges you to put your foot down.

Rather than mounting to the seat stay, the brake secures to an extension of the rear axle, allowing the seat stay to flex and damp vibrations from the trail without impacting braking consistency and modulation.

Trek's mountain-specific carbon fibre is tougher carbon, with unique materials and lay-up procedures, Trek's advanced engineering, and a higher standard of testing.

Tubeless Ready rims and tyres make it easy to ditch the tubes so you get better traction, fewer flats and less weight. You're ready to roll straight out of the box with the included TLR rim strips, valves and sealant.

Integrated channels in the frame make it super-easy to route cable housing and brake hose so you get a clean setup with no hassle.

With 108 points of engagement, Rapid Drive gives you nearly instant acceleration instead of a clunky lag when you step on the pedals. You get smooth, immediate power to blast out of corners and hammer through the rough stuff. And that extra pedal ratchet adds control that can make all the difference when tackling a tricky climb.

Bontrager Blendr stem technology lets you clip your gear directly to the stem for clean looks and maximum user friendliness.

If you love going fast on singletrack, it's a race-bred cross-country hardtail that's every bit as much fun on a trail centre loop. The 120 mm fork, sorted Gen 3 handling and a dropper post that tucks the saddle out of the way let you pop off roots and small jumps with confidence. It's happiest on punchy, flowing trails where its quick, eager feel keeps you pushing.
On long seated climbs and rooty drags, you really notice it. The seat stays run past the seat tube, so the back of the frame flexes a touch and takes the sting out of trail buzz and chatter without any bob. Stand up and sprint and you still get that crisp, direct hardtail feel that makes the Procaliber so quick.
Light enough to feel quick the moment you press on the pedals: a size M weighs 12.38 kg, measured with sealant in the tubeless ready tyres rather than inner tubes. The carbon frame is a big part of why it feels so eager on climbs and easy to flick through tight singletrack, and going tubeless lets you run lower pressures for grip with little risk of pinch flats.
Steep climbs are where it comes alive. One chainring means one shifter, no front mech to fuss over and a lighter, simpler drivetrain, while the 12-speed gears still pair a 32-tooth chainring with a huge 52-tooth sprocket for winching up the steepest trails. On smooth fire roads, flick on the fork lockout and the front end stays firm as you pedal.
It's worth it if you race or simply love a bike that feels light under you. Both bikes have the same 12-speed gears and 120 mm of fork travel, but the carbon 9.6 weighs 1.35 kg less in a size M. You feel that every time you sprint out of a corner, haul up a climb or lift the front over a root.
For most keen riders and plenty of racers, the 9.6 is already a light, fast carbon hardtail that's ready to pin on a number and race. Step up to the 9.7 if you're chasing seconds between the tapes: it brings electronic shifting and carbon wheels, and weighs a full kilogram less in a size M, so it feels even sharper when you attack a climb.
If you ride punchy cross-country races, quick after-work laps and plenty of climbing, the Procaliber's direct, zingy hardtail feel is hard to beat, with no rear shock to look after. Rough, rocky ground is where it feels firmer and loses time, so if you're planning long marathon races or lots of rooty natural trails, the full-suspension Supercaliber will suit you better.
Five sizes cover riders from 155 to 195 cm (5 ft 1 in to 6 ft 5 in). A medium suits 165 to 177 cm (5 ft 5 in to 5 ft 10 in) and a large 177 to 188 cm (5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 2 in), with the ML in between at 173 to 180 cm (5 ft 8 in to 5 ft 11 in).
Bought from an authorised Trek retailer, the frame carries a lifetime warranty for you as the original owner, and a later owner gets three years from the original purchase. Parts, accessories and paint get two years, and parts from other brands, like the fork and gears, have their own maker's warranty. Crash damage, wear and tear and poor maintenance aren't covered, and claims need proof of purchase.
Bring it back for its free first check at your nearest Bicycle Chain store within six weeks, sooner if you're racing and training every week, and straight away if anything feels wrong.
