What Trek Says

Procaliber 9.5 is a race-ready carbon hardtail ready to rocket up singletrack climbs. It features IsoBow vibration-damping tech to smooth out trail chatter, paired with aggressive XC geometry that’s confident, capable, and quick. It's all tied together with a Shimano Deore drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and a 120mm RockShox Judy Gold fork.

  • Smooth means fastInnovative IsoBow frame technology extends Procaliber's seat stays beyond the seat tube, allowing for increased vertical complicane that smooths trail chatter while reducing frame weight.

Features and benefits

What you get
Why it matters
01

IsoBow carbon frame that loves to climb

An OCLV Mountain Carbon frame with Trek's IsoBow seat stay design, a tapered head tube and guided internal cable routing.

It responds quickly when you stamp on the pedals, so you'll want to attack every punchy climb. IsoBow lets the rear flex slightly to soften trail chatter, though on really rough ground it is still a firm hardtail.

02

120 mm Fox fork for rougher tracks

A Fox Rhythm 34 air fork with a GRIP damper and 120 mm of travel.

With 120 mm up front, the bike copes with steeper, rootier cross-country tracks and lets you hold your line into descents. The air spring is quick to set for your weight with a shock pump.

03

Wide-range Deore 12-speed for steep climbs

Shimano Deore 1x12 gearing with a 32T chainring and a 10-51T cassette.

The 51T sprocket gives you a low gear for steep seated climbs and the 10T keeps you pushing on fast fire roads. With one chainring there is only one shifter to think about when you are racing hard.

04

Shimano hydraulic brakes for confident control

Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with MT4100 levers and MT410 callipers, running 160 mm rotors on sizes S, M and ML.

Hydraulic discs give consistent, easy-to-control stopping with one finger on the lever, so you can brake later into singletrack corners and keep your hands relaxed on long descents.

05

Fast-rolling 2.40 in tyres on tubeless rims

Tubeless-ready 29 in Bontrager Kovee double-wall rims, 23 mm wide, fitted with 2.40 in Maxxis Rekon Race tyres with EXO casing.

Big 29 in wheels roll over roots easily and the low-profile Rekon Race tread keeps you quick on hardpack. Set them up tubeless and you can run lower pressures for more grip and comfort with fewer punctures.

06

Dropper post for steeper, faster descents

A Bontrager Line Dropper seatpost with 150 mm of travel on sizes M, ML and L, 100 mm on S and 170 mm on XL.

Paired with the longer, slacker Gen 3 geometry, dropping the saddle lets you move freely on steep, technical descents, then a push of the lever brings it back up for the next climb.

07

Rack and accessory mounts for bigger days

Rack and accessory mounts on the frame, with the complete bike weighing 12.73 kg in size M, weighed with tubeless sealant and no tubes.

Bolt on a rack or extra kit and the bike that chases lap times can also take on long weekend loops and overnight trips, carrying what you need for a full day out.

Think of it as a cross-country race hardtail that's just as happy on your local singletrack. It reacts the moment you push on the pedals with a zingy feel that makes you want to go faster, while the 120 mm fork, sorted modern geometry and a dropper post let you lower the saddle and enjoy the descents. Weekend loops, trail centres and race days all suit it.

Expect a taut, direct race hardtail with a clever trick for taking the edge off. The IsoBow frame runs the seat stays on past the seat tube so they flex slightly, softening trail buzz while you're seated and pedalling, with nothing to bob or sap your effort. The rims and 2.40 in tyres are tubeless ready too, so you can run lower pressures for more grip and comfort.

Climbing is where this bike comes alive. It feels light and eager when you get on the pedals, and a single chainring keeps things simple, with one shifter, twelve gears and less to clog with mud. Pairing a 32-tooth ring with a 51-tooth biggest sprocket gives you a bottom gear lower than 1:1, so you can keep spinning seated up steep, loose climbs.

Go carbon if you want a lighter, livelier feel and a smoother ride when seated. The 9.5 gets the IsoBow frame, which the alloy Procalibers do without, and it weighs 12.73 kg in a medium, a full kilo lighter than the 8 in the same size. You feel that difference on every climb and every quick change of direction.

For fast trail rides and the odd race, the 9.5 already has what matters most: the carbon IsoBow frame, an air-sprung fork you can set up for your weight and a dropper post for the descents. Stepping up makes sense if you're chasing race results. The 9.6 trims a little weight, and the 9.7 adds electronic gears and carbon wheels for a medium of 11.38 kg.

If your riding is punchy cross-country loops, shorter races and smoother, faster trails, the Procaliber's directness is hard to beat: every pedal stroke turns into speed and there's no rear shock to maintain. Rough ground is where a hardtail asks more of you, though, so if you're planning long marathon days over rooty, rocky tracks, the Supercaliber will keep you fresher and quicker.

Riders of 165 to 177 cm (5 ft 5 in to 5 ft 10 in) fit the M, 173 to 180 cm (5 ft 8 in to 5 ft 11 in) the ML and 177 to 188 cm (5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 2 in) the L. The S starts at 155 cm (5 ft 1 in) and the XL goes up to 195 cm (6 ft 5 in).

Getting the front end just right is easy on this bike. It has a separate handlebar and stem rather than a one-piece cockpit, so you can flip the angled stem to change the bar height or fit a higher-rise bar. We don't charge for fitting any components you buy with your new bike, so you can ride away with it set up the way you like.

Your first check is free at your nearest Bicycle Chain store, and we ask that it happens within 6 weeks, or sooner if you're racing or riding hard every weekend, while new cables settle and bolts bed in. If anything feels wrong before then, book it in straight away. After that we recommend a service every 6 months if you ride regularly, or every 12 months for occasional rides.

As the original owner, you get a lifetime warranty on the carbon frame when it's bought from an authorised retailer, and a later owner gets 3 years from your purchase date. Trek's parts and accessories, paint and transfers have 2 years, while the fork, gears and brakes are covered by their own makers. Keep your proof of purchase, as claims go through an authorised retailer.
