What Trek Says

Our lightest-weight Domane build. Domane SLR 9 AXS 1x Gen 5 is an endurance road bike that breaks from the pack with a lightweight 1x drivetrain and aero-focused cockpit. Built from ultra-light 900 Series OCLV Carbon, it features a SRAM RED AXS 1x13 drivetrain with integrated power meter, Bontrager Aeolus RSL 37 carbon wheels, and a Trek Aero RSL integrated bar/stem — the same cockpit found on Madone, which puts you in a more aggressive riding position for max speed. It's a minimalist build that still delivers Domane’s comfort and long-distance pedigree.

  • Lightweight endurance performanceDomane SLR is now 2.1 lbs lighter than the previous generation's lightest build and has a frameset that's 305g lighter to climb faster, accelerate quicker, and ride stronger for longer. Plus, Domane's no-frills carbon design keeps things efficient and beautifully simple, so you get the comfort and confidence Domane is known for with less weight holding you back.

Features and benefits

What you get
Why it matters
01

Light carbon frameset that loves to climb

A 900 Series OCLV carbon frame with a Domane SLR carbon fork, and the complete bike weighs 6.63 kg in size ML (with tubes).

It's light enough to jump forward whenever you stand up on a climb, yet it still rides smoothly over rough lanes on long rides. Getting your tyre pressure right adds even more comfort.

02

SRAM RED 1x13 gearing for every gradient

SRAM RED XPLR eTap AXS electronic shifting, with a single 44T chainring and a 13-speed 10-46T cassette.

With a single chainring there's nothing to juggle, just one spread of gears from fast flat roads to steep lanes, and every change is a light tap. Once you've ridden with electronic gears you won't want to go back.

03

Built-in power meter for smarter riding

A SRAM RED crankset with a built-in power meter.

Pair it with a bike computer to see exactly how hard you're working, so you can pace a long climb or a 100 km day without fading early and watch your fitness grow.

04

Disc brakes for confident stopping in any weather

Disc brakes front and rear with 160 mm SRAM Paceline X rotors, and the brake line runs inside the fork.

Discs stop just as reliably in the wet as in the dry, so you can enjoy long descents down unfamiliar lanes, even on a drizzly winter ride.

05

Carbon wheels with fast 28 mm tyres

700c Bontrager Aeolus RSL 37 carbon wheels with 28 mm Pirelli P Zero Race RS tyres (120 tpi).

The carbon wheels pick up speed quickly out of corners and the race tyres roll fast on smooth tarmac. The frame takes tyres up to 40 mm, so it's easy to swap to wider tyres for gravel tracks.

06

Aero carbon cockpit for a faster position

A Trek Aero RSL Road one-piece carbon bar and stem with an 80 mm reach and 124 mm drop, plus an Aeolus RSL AirLoom saddle on carbon rails.

The one-piece aero bar puts you in a lower, faster position for holding speed into a headwind. Some riders find the saddle firm on longer rides, and if it doesn't suit you it's a simple swap.

07

Mounts and standard parts for year-round riding

Mudguard mounts on the frame and fork, built-in frame bag mounts, a T47 threaded bottom bracket, a universal derailleur hanger (UDH) and a 27.2 mm carbon seatpost.

Fit mudguards for winter miles and a frame bag for long days, which is handy because there's no storage inside the frame. Standard threads, hanger and seatpost keep repairs and upgrades simple for years to come.

If your riding means long days, rough lanes and plenty of hills, the Domane is your bike, while the Madone is Trek's aero bike, built around outright speed. This Gen 5 Domane blends the lightness of the now-discontinued Émonda with the Domane's long-day comfort, and this 1x build adds a race-fit aero bar and stem in one piece, so you can tuck low when the pace lifts.

Light enough to change what you expect from an endurance bike: 6.63 kg in size ML with tubes, making it the lightest Domane build. The Gen 5 frame and fork are about 305 g lighter than the previous generation's, and you feel it the moment the road tilts up or you sprint out of a corner. It's lively on climbs yet still settles into a long day.

For hilly riding it's plenty. The largest rear sprocket gives you a bottom gear a touch lower than 1:1, so you can keep spinning up steep lanes even late in a long ride. Thirteen gears spread the range from there to the top, and at this weight the bike climbs eagerly.

Go for this 1x if you want the lightest, simplest Domane, with fast road tyres and a power meter built into the cranks. The two-chainring SLR 9 builds weigh a little more but add a taller top gear for quick group rides and descents, and they come on wider 35 mm tyres for rougher roads. The standard SLR 9 also has deeper wheels.

Over long days it's still a smooth, forgiving ride. Losing IsoSpeed has made little difference over rough tarmac, and tyre pressure does much of the work, so running the tyres a little softer pays off on broken lanes. The saddle is the one part that can become uncomfortable on longer rides, so pick another from our range when you buy and we'll fit it free.

It copes happily with light gravel and mixed surfaces, and wider tyres make it more capable still. The same frame and wheels come with 35 mm tyres on the SLR 9 No. 76, so there's room to go bigger than the 28 mm fitted. For winter miles, the frame and fork have mudguard mounts, plus frame bag mounts for spares and snacks on long days.

Riders of 173 to 179 cm (5 ft 8 in to 5 ft 10 in) fit the ML, while M suits 162 to 173 cm (5 ft 4 in to 5 ft 8 in) and L suits 179 to 188 cm (5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 2 in). Six sizes run from XS to XL, and if you sit between two, your inside leg settles it.

Both are brilliant, and choosing between them comes down to personal preference and how the levers feel in your hands. On this bike the shifting couldn't be simpler: one paddle for an easier gear, the other for a harder one, and no front gears to think about. Once you've owned a bike with electronic gears, you'll never want to go back.

As the original owner, you get Trek's lifetime warranty on the frame and fork, and because these Bontrager wheels have carbon rims, they're covered for life too. Trek's own parts, accessories and paint have two years, while the SRAM gears and other brands' parts carry their makers' warranties. Claims go through an authorised retailer with proof of purchase, and crash damage and normal wear aren't covered.

If you're out on long rides most weekends, bring it in for its free first check at your nearest Bicycle Chain store within six weeks, or straight away if anything feels wrong so we can fix it before it causes damage. After that, a six-monthly service keeps it smooth, reliable and holding its value if you ride regularly, or yearly if it only comes out occasionally.
