The best of the winter sale

With Christmas gone but the cold, dark nights sticking around, we’re now into that bleak part of winter that almost everyone detests. No one dislikes a bargain however and boy have we got a ton of those to show you in our massive winter sale.

New year new ride

The turn of the new year is the perfect time to reinvent yourself and try new things. What better way to do that than buy a new bike, perhaps a kind you’ve never really ridden before? Winter is a great time to try out new disciplines like cyclocross and cross-country mountain biking, its wet and muddy conditions perfect for these kinds of riding.

We’ve got a vast selection available in the winter sale, from the top of the range Trek Slash cross-country bike to the entry-level Specialized Rockhopper. Both are fully equipped for a life off-road with fat, grippy tyres, comfortable geometry and super-springy front suspension.

The deals don’t stop with our mountain bikes. Our cross and adventure bikes also benefit from some of the biggest price drops across our whole sale. Straddling the margin between all-round adventure bike and cyclocross racing machine is the Specialized Diverge, a versatile machine that can conquer just about any kind of terrain.

Giant’s FastRoad SLR 1 occupies a similar niche, providing a nippy yet comfortable option for those riders looking for a new winter commuter. For all-round commuting performance however, look no further than the Specialized Turbo Vado and Cube’s Touring Hybrid Pro 400 – two e-bikes that are designed for a life zooming around the city.

Wrap up this winter

When it comes to riding during the cold, winter months, never underestimate the value of a good jacket. They can easily be stowed away in your pocket and should the heavens open, you can easily whip it out and stay dry.

Staying dry is only half the trouble however; you’ll also need to try and stay warm. Layering is key here with a snug long-sleeve jersey over thermal baselayer and pair of bib-tights proving a perfect formula to keep your whole body warm and toasty.

Finally, don’t forget gloves and thermal socks – your feet and hands will thank you as the temperatures inevitably drop below freezing.

Winter training tools

With the rains and freezing temperatures here to stay, outdoor riding is getting less and less attractive, forcing us indoors to get our cycling fix. The arrival of virtual reality training aids like Zwift have totally reinvented indoor training, transforming it from a dull and monotonous way of training into a super fun and sociable activity.

A turbo trainer or pair of rollers is all you need to get started. Just attach your bike and get pedalling – you’ll soon feel the benefits.

Handy winter accessories

Riding through the winter bears a few challenges, particularly when it comes to riding in the dark. Lights are an essential and certainly something to grab a few of – the brighter the better.

Mudguards are another must-have, especially if you find yourself dirtying all of your cycling kit at this time of year. They’re also handy when riding in a group, stopping all the road spray from flying into the eyes of your riding friends.

Be sure to view the whole of our winter sale here. It won’t be around forever so hurry and grab some bargains while stocks last.
